The name ADLIBIO is derived from ad libitum, which is Latin for “at one’s pleasure” (at liberty). In animal nutrition ad libitum means without feed restriction and ad libitum feeding means that feed is freely available at all times with the quantity and frequency of consumption being the choice of the animal. Commercial broilers and layers are typically being fed ad libitum in practice. Ad libitum is often shortened to “ad lib” (as an adjective or adverb) or “ad-lib” (as a verb or noun).
